Biology Course Union

The Biology Course Union (BCU) is a network of enthusiastic students studying biological sciences at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus. The BCU exists to foster a great academic experience for Biology students through member engagement, advocacy, and increased access to resources.

The BCU has chosen to focus on just a few events each year and to do them well. One of these annual events is our research social, which provides a great opportunity for students to speak with their professors about their research and any potential opportunities for student involvement. This event is generally held in November and always includes free refreshments! We are planning to create another annual event for the second semester of the Winter Session which aims to help Biology students find jobs after graduation.

The BCU provides a $500 bursary each year which is awarded to a student who has declared his or her major as Biology, and who demonstrates financial need and academic excellence. We host fundraisers throughout the year in order to raise money for this worthy cause.

If you want to become a member, are interested in being on the executive team in future years, have some great ideas, or just have a question, please don’t hesitate to contact us! All Biology students are encouraged to participate. We look forward to meeting you!
